My grandmother is very forgetful especially when she is under stress, then many times she is fine and doesn't forget. She always knows who people are and general things about herself, she remembers past things that happened in her life like that her only two children she had died as adults and she knows how and when. She can tell you how to get to a doctor’s office or lab that she's been to. She known’s who's running for president and a little about them; she knows the neighbors and who's been there and about how long. She can carry on quite a conversation about general things sometimes news events. But lately she's been under stress because a relative she trusted to help her with bills (she was having trouble getting her check book to balance) has had her sign him as power of attorney so he could help her, now he is being pushy, manipulative, secretive, and very sneaky about things. She has other grandchildren two of which are pretty much her children since she had to raise them when their mother died. We are all very close and love her dearly. We are afraid this relative is planning to put her in a nursing home he has hinted to this yet refuses to ever talk about anything he is doing to"help" her. We got very scared by his suspicious behavior and asked her what she thought, he also does not like us and has let it show. She now wants to have his POA taken back, she signed papers had it notarized but he refuses to budge and her attorneys are now only listening to him. He tells them we made her sign the paper rescinding POA, which is not true. Now he says she is not of sound mind and will not listen to anything she says. We do not want her in a nursing home and she doesn't either. She never wanted that, but he says well that's the power she gave me. We want to have her evaluated but she gets nervous and forgets way more when she's nervous. What do doctors do when they evaluate (it will be a family doctor)?

It sounds like he is manipulating and scamming and wants POA so he can take advantage of her.
You may need to get a good lawyer that will prove that he coerced her into signing and that
She is of sound mind.
