    Laundry drain pipe advice
I am turning a small bedroom on the first floor of my home into a laundry room and need some advice on the drain for the washer. Should I run a 2" PVC pipe up into the room or can I run a smaller (say 1 1/2 or 1 3/4) from the room through the floor into a 2" in the cellar to the 3" sewer? It seems like drilling a 2 3/8" hole in the floor is rather large.

Try a 2 5/8ths" hole for the 2" PVC that you have to run. ( You may cover that with a 2" escutcheon plate.) I would not run drainage any smaller then 2" for a washer set up. Make the stand pipe at least 36" long. You will have to vent the "P" trap. You may reduce to 1 1/2", run to the attic and revent back into a existing roof vent if you wish. More questions? I'm as close as a click. Tom

Clogged laundry basin, overflow pipe [ 1 Answers ]

Hi I've had problems with laundry sink(basement) we have the washer draining in it and it's overflowed several times. I tried to snake the overflow pipe but I believe there is a solid dirt plug, my guess is maybe tree roots or something. Also there is limited working space because of cabinets...

Pipe backup with laundry use [ 1 Answers ]

We recently moved into a home built in the 50's. Every time we do laundry there is a sewer/drain hole that spews out foul smelling water (in the basement). This happens after before the rinse cycle when the water is drained from the machine. We do not have a backup in our wash basin, only from this...

My house was built in early 70's.. No plastic.. I'm putting in a new sink and had to remove the wall pipe that goes into the wall.. I needed a longer one.
