Hampton bay ceiling fan has mind of its own
I just purchased a new house and the family room has a Hampton Bay remote control ceiling fan installed. The fan goes on without anyone pushing the remote, and the light goes off or comes on whenever it feels like it. I removed the battery from the remote to make sure that it wasn't the problem. The light still turns off or on for no good reason, and the fan turns on sometimes. I contacted Hunter by accident and they suggested changing the toggle switches to a different setting. If this is the fix how would I do this on my ceiling fan, or could it be another issue?
I need to fix this soon, because it is driving me nuts. Thanks for any help! |

I did a search and found this thread here:

About a year ago our Hampton Bay ceiling fan began turning on and off on its own. The lights would turn off. Sometimes they would dim and then brighten first sometimes not. The fan would turn on or switch to a high speed. :o Because it happened at the same time that our new neighbors moved...
I bought a new Hampton Bay celing fan w/a built it light kit and remote. After installing it the lights work fine, but the fan only works on the low speed. Is there a master speed setting in the fan that needs to be set on High? There are no pull chanins. Thanks.
The light pull on the ceiling will turn off the light. The ceiling fan pull seems to work OK. I'd like to keep the fan on and turn the light off; currently unable to do that ;-( With the light switch on, the light is on, the fan is on; I pull the light pull and it switches off for a milisecond...
