    Hampton bay ceiling fan has mind of its own
    I just purchased a new house and the family room has a Hampton Bay remote control ceiling fan installed. The fan goes on without anyone pushing the remote, and the light goes off or comes on whenever it feels like it. I removed the battery from the remote to make sure that it wasn't the problem. The light still turns off or on for no good reason, and the fan turns on sometimes. I contacted Hunter by accident and they suggested changing the toggle switches to a different setting. If this is the fix how would I do this on my ceiling fan, or could it be another issue?

    I need to fix this soon, because it is driving me nuts.

    I did a search and found this thread here:

    I will turn off the breaker tonight and see if that helps. Any other suggestions? Is there a way to get a manual if I can figure out the model number?
