    Is it legal?
Does anyone know if a convicted felon can date a cop? I have a friend who just met a wonderful policeman but she has a record. Could he get in trouble if it is found out? She is on probation and doing very well and has left her old ways behind Yea!

Conditions to probation usually include a clause about associating with convicted people but I've never heard of probation condition limiting contact with police officers. The cop may have something in his employment rule book about associating socially with someone still serving their sentence because technically probation is a sentence and it's just at the very low end of the spectrum as far as supervision but she is still considered to be "serving her sentence." So no the probationer can't get in trouble but maybe the cop can.
Just my opinion and a few life lessons.

The police officer will have to notify their department, ** most departments have rules on this, I know as a officer I had to list any family member who had ever been arrested any currently in jail or on probation or parole.

So as long as the police officer report it properly, there is normally no problem

Perhaps it would help to keep her out of trouble if she loves him and would not want to disappoint him.

But a little more seroius, the only issues I would see is that issue with a felon and access to a firearm, since many police officers are required to keep their weapon on them 24 hours a day ( as much as possible) and the officer would have to keep his weapon locked where the other partner could not get it, anytime he was not in actual control of it.

That firearm rule would only apply if she is convicted of a felony. I'm thinking since she's on probation she could have only received a misdemeanor charge and if the charge was a misdemeanor then there is likely no stipulation regarding firearms but she ought to look into it very carefully and be fully aware of the rules of her probation. Somewhere in the paperwork she has received she has a list of stipulations (ie: her personal probation rules).
Geez some girls will do anything to meet a guy huh? :-)
