From what I have heard of the UK it is 5 if children are opposite sex but I don't know who enforces that or how it is enforced. Meaning----that could mean it may be only if social services are involved with the family.
Otherwise if there is no set law then use good judgment and common sense.

Generally, goverments don't regulate this. There are too many other factors involved.
From a practical standpoint, once one starts puberty, its past time to separate them.
What is your situation? Why do you ask?

I am about to move to a new house. My son is 13 and my daughter is 7. I am limited with the space in the new house. My only option is my kids to share the bedroom but I wasn't sure if there is a legal issue.
Thanks

In that case if you are buying or plan to live there for many years you have to take into consideration that you will need the extra room within a year or so because teens should have their own space, especially opposite sex.
It may be best just to find another place with the extra bedroom in the first place.

No way would I have a 13 yr old boy sleep in the same room with a 7 yr old girl. Whether there is a law against I don't know, but wouldn't care. You need to figure out some way of separating them. Are you moving into a flat or a house?
