    Under $5000 internal theft
Hi this is my story please help

I work at the bay in edmonton
And I was caught yesterday with 2 shirts a pair of shoes and some cosmetics in my bag
I put my bag in the stock room and when I went back it wasn't there
The loss prevention team called me and told me they found it and made me open it
I openly plead guilty and told them I had taken the stuff.
I'm 17 and this is my first offence. What is the kind of sentencing and action
That they will most likely take against me.
    I'm turning 18 on march 25th.
Please help I'm scared. And will they also call my parents? Or not.

I'm assuming that the company you worked for did not press charges? Were you arrested and charge with a crime?

First I think that you can assume that you no longer work for them, I can't see them allowing you to keep your job there after this.

I don't know what will happen to you. I don't know if they will charge you as an adult or minor, whether it's your age at the time of your crime or the age at the time of your sentencing that will be considered.

If you are charged as an adult then this will be on your record permanently. As to what they will do, jail, fine, community service, I don't know. I would get yourself a lawyer, and then I'd learn from this. You committed the crime and now you have to pay for it. I bet you wish you could go back and make a better choice, but it's to late now. Now it's time to face the music. Get a lawyer and tell mom and dad, they're going to find out anyway.

Well this happened just yesterday and they haven't called me or anything yet
So I don't know if they are going to charge me or not
They didn't call the police when they found my purse and when I plead guilty to the
Bay loss prevention officer. Is there a chance they will just terminate me and then
Just let me go off with a warning and maybe a fine.
This is my first offenceso you think jail time and such things could happen to me?

I agree with Altenweg. From what you posted it did not sound like they pressed charges on you. If so you would have been arrested and arraigned. At this arraignment you would have been read the charges against you, and asked how do you plead guilty or not guilty. If none of this things happened then no charges were brought against you. The theft was a misdemeanor and most judges don't send these first time offenders to jail.. its some type of probation or even community services.

This happened in Canada, which has some type of youthful diversion program. It's been posted before but I don't recall the details.

And others have been stopped for shoplifting in Canada, released by store security and then arrested several days later, after the incident has been reported to the Police and a charge filed.

As I recall charges were pressed when it wasn't a spur of the moment shoplifting incident but when it was a thought out plan - which your appears to have been (with the merchandise in your purse, hidden away).
