What to do with a non existent father after 7 years
My sons father was only 14 when I got pregnant and I was 17. No, I didn't know he has 14. But now after 8 years the state of il caught up with him for child support and now he says he can't turn his back on our son. My son is 7 and he has never seen him or tried to contact him can he just come into his life and is there any way that I can have his parental rights terminated?

There are tons of other questions and answers on this subject but in one word, no, you cannot, not if the father doesn't want to be "terminated."

Read through the other threads - there's a wealth of info posted and a lot of research.

If he wants to be a part of his son's life then he can definitely do that, and there is nothing you can do to stop it.

You should want that for your child.

I just noticed - again! - that if you go to the top of this thread the second item is, in fact, an explanation of terminating parental rights.

As said before no, you can't terminate his rights in anyway. What does need to happen is to have a visitation schedule set up. This can be done informally outside of court until you have a court date for the judge to order the rest. You do need to realize that if you don't set up a court date or at least some visitation then he will go to court and get visitation anyway so you may as well cooperate because the judge will sign whatever he/she sees fit.
