    Washer drain keeps backing up!
I just bought a new condo and I've been here for about two months. I have a small closet size laundry room with a stacked laundry unit. Today I noticed that the drain is backing up and overflowing the drain pipe. The water is draining but the washer is feeding out too much water for the drain to handle. The main drain is about 3 ft. high and the drain pipe from the washer is U shaped and just sits in the drain. Any suggestions??

Is the drain stand pipe 2" or smaller? Can you tell if there is a trap on this drain?

It is a 2 inch pipe but its in a smal space in the wall so I do not know if there is a trap or not. Im afraid I'm not too savvy in this area.

I forgot to ask but are you renting or did you buy? In either case most condo associations cover internal drain issue through their own maintenance people at no expense to you. You may want to call them since it appears you have a blockage, probably lint, and will need to have the drain snaked out.
