How to get out of the "friend zone"
So I'm 17 and I have a really close friend who I'm really starting to like a lot he just broke up with his girlfriend Tuesday night while I was over helping him with an essay. I want to know what I can do to get him to notice me as more than a friend. But I don't want it to be awkward just kidna get him to think of me as more than just in "the friend zone." Any help would be amazing!! THANKS!!

Oof. You might want to give it some time. Going in for the kill straight after the breakup isn't tactful.

Give it a little bit of time for him to get over her...

Then tell him how you feel. See what he does. Ask him on a date.

Being there for them as a friend is good right now if he just broke up with his girlfriend.

I fell for my best friend also we were bestfriends for about a year and within 5 months of being his best friend I fell for him hard! He dident know it though
I had to see him date girls then get hurt from them but I was always there for him after words. Me and him were really close but I never thought he would ever think of me other then a friend.
Everrrrrrrr but then one day his friend told me that he liked me I was like yea right
Then I found out he did I was so happy to find out he felt the same way about me
And he did for a while
He also thought I would never think of him as anything but a friend.

I know its not easy being a friend to someone you like.
But you never know he may feel the same way towards you as you do to him
Take the chance while its still here because if he gets another girl friend
Your stuck sitting there watching the boy you like with some girl
And if he doesn't know you like him he will go out with other girls because he thinks he don't have a chance

And if you are to shy to say it in person
    Write a cute letter
I did that before I knew my best friend liked me too an I was going to give it to him but I got scared but I found it to help get the feelings out.

... ouch that hard right there to tell you the true I am also in the same situation... well how about was in the same situation.. lol... cause I am dating my bes girlfriend now...

I been no her for 2 years and jezzzzzzzz do I like her...

But she just so cute and innocent that everyguys like her... and I think of myself as a normal... not even cute at all.. and I even found that I am lucky to be her friend... so I stuck with her for 2 years... but hey... 2 weeks ago... I just couldn't take it anymore and asked her out... guess what she like me also... for a while.. but she just stuck in the friend zone...

So my advise is... just ask him out... what can be wrong ? The worst is he said no...

Don't be shy about setting the scene yourself.

"Let's go see JUMPER together on Saturday night, just you and me? What do you think?"
Choose a movie you know he likes.

"I know you like singing group ABBA, they're coming to a nearby arena. Can I get us tickets to go?"
Choose a group you know he likes.

"Sometimes I just want to get away from all the noise, you know? Ever feel like that? (yes) Hey, let's go for hike/picnic Saturday? Doesn't that sound corny but still fun?"

... or a drive through the mountains, to the beach... you get the idea.

Be like 'now that you are free to go to the movies sometime with another girl' type approach but hold off on coming off like you want to be his girlfriend until you see he has the same interest.
In time going places and doing things together he might come around. Right now he just broke up with her and who knows they could be back together within the next week then you really would feel awkward.
