    Thermostat Wiring Issue
I am replacing an old round thermostat with a Hunter digital one. When I removed the old one I was unable to see which color wire were attached to which connector (the wire were stripped a good bit). The problem is I have 1 red wire, 1 black wire & 1 white wire together and a single red wire. I have Heating and HVAC. If anyone could provide any guidance it would be appreciated.

Hey md721cd, I am a hvac guy that can give you a hint. First off you have the same problem I had when I went to replace my thermostat on this lovely fixer upper home I bought. I had a red, blk, white, and red wire.the wire is old and out dated.the correct colors for you typical thermostat wire is as follows: red, white, blue, and green.
You wire them such as this: red goes to the R terminal, white to the W terminal, blue to the Y terminal, green to G terminal.
Now what I did was bought new thermostat wire eletrical tape it to the old wire real good so it can't come undone and fished it through the wall and installed it.if you can't to this your other option is to go to your furnace see what terminals each wire is connected to and wire the thermostat
Hope I could help you out at least some -dave-
