Ok.. I've searched and searched and can't find either clarity or info on how to do this... even though I know it's do-able.

Here's my situation, I have 4 canned lights I want to wire to a single dimmer. The power has to go into the light first.

Power--->Light1--->Light2--->Light3--->Light4--->Dimmer

I'd like to avoid wiring power from the junction box to the switch because of the distance to the switch. The junction box is 2.5 feet from the first light. Hence my desire to wire power to the light first.

I am operating off a 20amp circuit using 12/2 wire. I have 50 ft of additional red wire I can use as a traveler but just need some clear worded explanation (and even maybe a diagram) on how to properly wire this. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Never mind... I got it. For those needing similar help here's how you do it.

At Light1 attach the black from the incoming power to the black going to Light2 (2 wires together).
Attach the White from the incoming power to the white on Light1 and the white going to Light 2 (3 wires together)
Attach your red traveler cable from the black from Light1 and attach to the black from Light2

Do the same for Light2 to Light3 or until you get to your last light.

When you get to Light4 (or the last light in the series) you'll do some switching. The white coming from the switch will pair up with the Black from Light3 (not the red).
The White from Light3 will attach to the white on Light4.
The Black from the switch will attach to the Red from Light3 and the Black from Light4.

At the switch wire the terminals black to black and white to white (or red depending on the colors used by the switch manufacturer).

This is true. You need a XX/3 cable between the lights and a XX/2 wire switch loop at the end.

The switch will NOT have color coded terminals. Regardless of manufacturer.
Single pole switches have two gold screws.
Put the incoming HOT wire (white) on the top screw and the switched (black) wire on the bottom. Or use a dimmer.
You must also re-mark the hot white wire on both ends with a permanent marker to a hot color such as black, red or blue.
