I actually have a few questions.
1) If the CC company charged off the debt in 2003 can I be sued by another company who bought the debt? I have received the papers from the sheriff, but the account was opened in 2000 and was charged off in 2003.

2) What is the SOL in Ga? Could that be my defense?

3) I don't have a job or any assets, everything is in my husbands name. I don't work because child care would take my whole check, so wouldn't be worth it. The CC are in my name only.

So any help would be great!

Ga. Is 6 years on a written contract, and 7 years on a judgment.

Yes, the company that purchased your debt has every legal right to sue you.

Once you have borrowed the money, inability to pay is not an acceptable excuse unless you want to file bankruptcy.

You could try to make a payment arrangement prior to going to court, but, if you have nothing to pay, that's probably not of much help.

You can appear to defend yourself, or not show up and they will get the judgment by default. Once they have the judgment, they can then begin to attempt to collect it.
