Dripping Sound in Ceiling when upstairs bath runs
We have been experiencing a drip whenever the upstairs bath or shower is used. The faucet in the tub has been replaced. The tile has been torn out around the faucet and the shower head and no leak is apparent. The drain has been replaced. Downstairs we have cut holes in the ceiling in two places to try and locate where it is dripping. Nothing is wet, no where on the ceiling does there look to be water damage. Yet the dripping is very loud. Any ideas?

Is there any way to look under you home? And if you have copper pipes, they develop pin holes which can shoot a small stream of water to a location away from the bath. The water could also be going to one area, running down and dripping somewhere else. Expand your search. If you don't find it It will find you.--Good Leck

We can't look under the house, to my knowledge, and we have looked in every area we can think of, I have two large holes in my ceiling! So we are at a stand still at this point... but the drip goes on...

Hey Lisakay.. tell me... how do you know it is a leak? Is there any evidence of a leak... or do you just hear it..

If you just hear it... I am sorry to say you may be hearing nothing but an expansion and/or contraction of water pipes. Here, if water pipes have been installed to rigidly... or tight against wood beams/studs... you will hear sounds that sound like dripping... like... drip... drip... drip... drip.. drip.. dripdripdrip... can sound very loud (especially when using hot water).. especially at start of turning fixture on.. and then again at end when shut off fixture. Hard to explain//but is more than possible.

Let me know what you think.
