    Sportbike with valve hitting cylinder wall, visible upon tear down
    Since there is no motorcycle section...
    I have a 2002 Kawasaki Ninja 250 motorcycle that was given to me by my brother. It has progressively gotten louder, and is making a clicking/chattering noise. I know that the valves have not been adjusted in over 7,000 miles (has 10K now, had 3K when my brother purchased). Me and a co-worker tore the engine down, and it was evident that one of the valves was hitting the cylinder wall. I could see where it was wearing into the metal. Would a valve adjustment have prevented this problem, or is it hitting the wall of the cylinder because of a bigger problem? Also, what repairs and approximate cost will this repair cost?
