Sad story of foreclosure dogs.
ZoomTown - News
I just saw this on my home page. People when someone moves out of a home on your street or near you please listen for pets or pay attention to the windows and see if you see animals in the window or hearing barking, whining, scratching. Please just keep an eye out the next time someone moves out esp. if you know they had animals. No animal should be left to fend for themselves.

Yes it is sad, I have had this happen often in my rental houses, where I go in and find a dog or cat in the house or tied outside.
I wish they would look at it under criminal laws, but normally I had trouble getting animal control to even come over.

This is so great to see people that care. I am one of a few that do adhere to advise such as this. I will have to post this up at our locale SPCA and vet hospitals. Thank you.
So Sad. :(

I've never thought of this. Very sad :( that people would leave defenceless animals behind to fend for themselves. I will follow Scottish's lead and post this at our local shelter. I will also tell my folks and friends, who have rental properties, to check out the houses after a tenant has skipped.
Thanks for the heads up :)

I work for a rescue and yesterday was a sad day. A elderly lady passed away and had an elderly little poodle. When her kids came to pack her belongings up and sell the house they through the dog outside to fend for itself saying they didn't want it. A Neighbor seen this dog curled up on the porch crying and very cold, hadn't had food or water for at least a few days. The neighbor called the people to see if they were coming back for it and they told her no. We have this dog and she is so sad mourning her owners death and being left all alone. Family members need to realize, its not the animals fault

tgslickers, thankfully there are rescues out there to help. Every neighbor that has eyes and ears can be helpful as long as they are willing to get involved. Without these neighbors who knows what would have happened to that poor dog.
I wonder if these idiots could be prosecuted. It would be wonderful to send a message, that the community you are in will not tolerate that behavior. If possible maybe your group could check into that, also send an email about it to the newspapers sometimes that will give them an idea for a news story and they will go with it. I have called news stations about dog cruelty cases and they have come out to investigate it.

:( Your story made me cry. Not only was the poor dog grieving, but left alone to do it! What kind of heartless people do these things? Isn't it nice that they came to collect the "stuff" and sell her house for profit... but they couldn't be bothered with a helpless, innocent dog that probably gave their mother a lot of joy and company when those same kids didn't have the TIME to do that! How sad for them! They will realize one day what they did... when no one comes to visit them!
God Bless You for taking care of her dog! You will get your kindness back 10 fold for caring! :)

Thank you , what you said is so true. It will come back to them. The dog is doing really good and we just found her a home with an older lady who just retired and travels a lot. She went out and bought her a few outfits and a lot of toys. They seem to get along very well. Happy ending :) but so many animals aren't as lucky.

That is great to hear! :) Maybe the elderly dog will feel more comfortable with someone a little older too! She will have time to spend with the dog and maybe he will get over his sad feelings a little quicker because of what you did! :D
I hate to think of so many other dogs (animals) in the same situation, but 1 saved is 1 that doesn't suffer right? ;)
Cheerrrzzz to you!
Ps. I hugged my little girl extra long, and she got an extra treat out of the deal too, lol

I don't understand why our laws don't include prosecution for the mis treatment of animals. Or let me rephrase that, they don't enforce the laws in place. It makes me so angry, pets are not property to be disposed of! I have one dog, that I fear if anything happened to me, it's not that my family wouldn't keep the dog and care for it, but never care for her the way I do. (She needs supervision all the time)... I would love to kick those people in the pants! I will pass on the information as well.

Our neighbors had moved and a week later we saw a cat sitting in the front picture window. We watched for cars coming or going, and, thankfully, a youngish couple zoomed into the drive a day or so later. Turned out, they had just bought the place and were sleeping there before all the furniture arrived. *Whew* We were ready to call the police and the local cat shelter.
What bothered me years ago was when I visited an elderly couple who were in the Bible class I taught. They wanted me to come over for lunch and to meet their daughter. While we sat at the table and looked out onto their lush back yard, I noticed next door a huge shade tree. Tied to a swiveling pole with a long chain was a beautiful furry white dog who spent the day running round and round in a huge circle. There was only dirt where the dog had run. The elderly couple said that no one was ever out there with the dog or walked it but just brought it food and water. Apparently, the dog was just a backyard ornament.

I have a neighbor like this. They tie their sweet dog outside all day long. He looks so sad when I take my dog out to play with her.. I want so bad to bring their dog into my fenced yard and let him play with my girl. I have asked them on 2 separate occasions if this would be okay, since the dogs are always nose to nose through the fence anyway. They kind of brush it off and tell me maybe "one of these days" we could do that. He is never taken on walks or even had a ball thrown for him to play, as far as I've noticed. I have given their dog water, food and treats when it looks like nothing has been left out for him. I would really like to go over and sneak him over, when they are not home, but I don't want to be charged with stealing their dog or something either. They also just got a kitten who stays inside. The woman is also pregnant, so I'm thinking the poor dog will get less attn once the baby comes too. If this continues with them leaving their dog outside tied all day long, I am going to call the SPCA to see if there is something I can do. I might even be willing to adopt him from them if they don't find it's necessary to give their dog much needed attention.

starbuck8 just approach them and see if they will let you have it, just tell her you realize she is pregannat and maybe it will be too much for her taking care of a dog as well. You never know, lazy people are always looking for an out.
