    Dear all

I have a traffic violation ticket in nj and want plea guilt in my court appearance
    Next Thursday, 31 jan 08.
The officer gave me a 4 point on my driving record. Now I want to know how much
Point will be deducted if I admit and ready to pay all court fees.

I'm in NYS but I'm not aware of any State which offers a point reduction on a guilty plea... unless you can get yourself into traffic school.

I don't think there's a 100% definite answer - is your record otherwise clean? If so, try for driving school.

In NYS the Courts will sometimes offer EVERYBODY a reduced charged and fewer points with a low fine but a high surcharge - which the municipality gets to keep, a money maker for the town.

Pleading guilty in and of itself doesn't automatically guarantee a reduction in the point total. It is possible that you could arrange a plea bargain with the local prosecutor in which case you'd plead guilty to a lesser offense and thus receive fewer points and a smaller fine but you and (s)he would have to come to an explicit agreement ; it won't happen automatically.

No, there is no point reduction, points are assinged to the criminal citation, and the officer does not give points, he merely gives a ticket, the DMV assigns the points once the person pleads guilty or is found guilty.

You may look into a few things, being able to plead nolo and no points assigned, again a lot more money for service fees ( or work out a deal to take traffic school and pay a "fee" not fine. It is more costly but can get around the points.
