I drink alcohol occasionally, like once every 2 months or less usually. I am a whiskey drinker, I drink it straight as a shot. For some reason, I just can't seem to get buzzed or drunk, it's like the alcohol is not being absorbed or used by my body. I bought a liter of Jack Daniel's, drank half of it in about 6 or 7 hours and was fine, like I had just drank water. So, I tried again the next day... nothing. I've drank several times since discovering this just to see what will happen, and all but one time, I had the same outcome. So, out of about 15 tries, I got half-drunk once. Each time, I consumed around a quarter to a half liter of 80 proof whiskey within 6 hours. What the heck is going on?

I could understand if I was a long time heavy drinker and had developed a tolerance, but this is not the case. I really rarely drink, as I said once every 2 months or less. My height is 5'7 and my weight is 140 just to let you know, so it can't be due to my size.

It's the time span.
Right I don't know your measures but for this exercise I'm going to assume 25mls as it makes the calculations easier.

0.5L/0.025 = 20 shots
1 25ml shot of (40% alcohol) = 1 unit
So you are drinking (20 units/6 hours) just over 3 units an hour.
If you compare that to strong beer (6.6%) that is less than 1 pint per hour.

So you are being senisible and nice to your body drinking slowly but its not going to get you drunk. But isn't that is usually a good thing??

Another thing to consider is different people get drunker on different alcohol types. I know hardened whiskey drinkers who get wasted on a bottle of wine.

Alcohol effects everyone differently. But I think you're treading on dangerous ground by consuming large amounts of alcohol in an effort to get a "buzz." Even if you don't feel the psychological effects of alcohol to the same extent that the average person does, it still has the same physiological effects on your liver and digestive system and by drinking large amounts of alcohol you risk doing serious damage to these organs.

Sorry S_cianci had to spread the rep but you are right, it doesn't matter how tolerant you are to alcohol the effects on the liver are biochemically the same.

My opinion is that you are kidding yourself... alcohol is poison.

Your body processes the poison most efficiently. If you took a breathalyzer after drinking, trying to get drunk, your BAL is probably 1.5 or higher. Most wouldn't be able to walk. A friend of mine was arrested and given a breathalyzer test. Her blood alcohol was 3.89. She was supposed to be dead! She was walking and talking as if she hadn't had anything to drink. She was very toxic, but couldn't feel it. Her liver gave out a year later.

Don't do it. You are an alcoholic. Give up on feeling drunk, there are more healthy ways to get a "buzz" without any drugs. Accept that you are extremely efficient processing poison and find something new.
