    Retrieving 2006 tax submission
    Hi,

    How do I get a copy of my 2006 tax forms and submissions. I basically just want to get a copy of my 2006 tax filings for my records and want to know what the process is. Please advise.

    How did you file your 2006 return? If you used a tax preparer, then may be you can have a copy from them. If you used a software, then may be you can still print a copy.

    If you want a copy from IRS, it will cost you $39 and it will take about 60 days. Instead you can get transcripts from IRS. It is free.

    You can order a transcript by calling 1-800-829-1040, or using Form 4506-T, Request for Transcript of Tax Return. Transcripts have most of the information from your tax return including information from W2, 1099. If you have a fax, then you will get it in a day or else within 10 days.
