    3 way switch hook up
    I just roughed in a kicthen with 5 high hats. I am putting them on a 3way switch. One at either end of the room. Power coming from the switch out to the 5 high hats in 12/3. I ran the red straight through. All blacks wired together and all whites together. Does this sound right. Please help

    You need 2 wires for travellers that go from switch to switch(2 same colored screws)
    One 3 way common(the dark screw)needs constant power, the other three way common goes to light hot wires. Worse case you may need a 2 conductor romex.

    I thought the red was the travler to th other switch

    You need 2 travellers, red can be 1, you need one more.
    The 2 travellers are 2 wires that only connect at both switches, they can go through lights.
