Changing Home Thermostat
I need help with the wire color codes. I had a Carrier Heat Pump Thermostat and I'm switching it to a Hunter Programmable Thermostat. None of the wires are labeled the same and I cannot figure out what colors from the wall are supposed to go into the new thermostat.

Let start with sharing the new stats name and model number. Hoiw many and what color are the wires coming out of the wall? Read the install instructions, how many wires does Hunter say you need for their stat. Also, if you have AC and only one transformer you jumper the two reds in the stat, Rh and RC are jumpered with a svery short piece of wire.
Keep in mind that not all Hunter stats will work with a heat pump, lets make sure you bought the correct one so I await your model number.

I had a carrier unit (50HY-030--301AA model) and I bought a Hunter Model 44155C. It does have the jumper installed in the new thermostat. My problem is that I have seven wires coming from the wall in these positions on the old: Blue wire in "C", Brown wire in "E", White wire in "W2", Red wire in "R", Yellow wire in "Y", Orange wire in "O", Green wire in "G". In the new instructions, it sais the following in the conversion chart: RH, R, VR or 4 mark as "RH". RC, VC mark as "RC". G or F mark as "G". Y,C,M,or O mark as Y/O. W, H or B mark as W/B, and Y1 mark as Y1. There was a note not to hook up the "common" wire to this thermostat. I'm just a little confused on the correct position for them... Any help is appreciative... even if I should just get a professional out here even though I like learning how to fix things. Thanks!
