I have a son who is 23 years old and moved in with us, due to loss of his apartment. He has no written agreement with us and has not paid rent, food or utilites. He is being verbaly abusive with his mother and both of us want him out. He will not leave. The only thing we have done is put him on our truck insurance so he can drive it to work only. He doesn't even pay for that. What can we do? J C G

I have moved your question to its own thread, it is not a good idea to ask your question as a answer to someone else's question, normally you will not get an answer.

Well to me if there is no rental agreement, he has never paid any rent. You tell him to pack and get out, and change the locks if he does not.
He is not a tenant unless he has paid or there was some agreement to pay. And what the heck if he is, if he is abusive he needs to go out regardless.

Get this moocher out of your home immediately and take him off your automobile insurance immediately! You are asking for some huge problems with this kind of arrangement as his behavior will only get worse.

You say he has a job? He earns money, let him support himself, you don't have to coddle him anymore. He's just taking advantage of your good nature and generosity.

If he is abusive physically with either you or your spouse, call the police and have him arrested for domestic violence.
