    Potty training my mini dauschund
Maggie Lou is 11 1/2 weeks old and I do not know how to get her to poop on the puppy pad. Sometimes she will poop when we take her outside and sometimes not. It seems as soon as we turn our back on her, she poops somewhere in the kitchen or living room. Please give me some tips on what to do.

When she is in the house, do not let her out of your sight until you can fully trust her, if you have to keep her on a leash so you can watch her. If she looks like she is sniffing around for a place to go, pick her up and take her outside to her pee spot. If she poops in the house, don't scold her, pick up her and the poop and take them outside to her poop spot. Praise her lavishly. Repeat. She will get it, it will just take some time and patience on your part.

When you do have to leave the house and can't keep an eye on her confine her to a room or cage that doesn't have carpeting or wood floors. When she gets better at using the piddle pads you can expand her space when you go out if possible.
When my dog was little she was tearing up the house when we would leave. We put her in a crate. One day we came home and she had broken out of the cage and no damage to the house. So for the past few months she has been free to run while we were gone. The past month she has been acting up when we leave. Pooping once at the front door mostly.
So until she re-learns better, since she is now too big for the crate, she is confined to the kitchen.
