    Carpet over carpet
The carpet in my basement is glued down and it's almost impossible to pull up. It is only about 1/8 th of an inch thick maybe a 1/4 inch at most. Is there any reason why I can't leave it and put new carpet over the top. I thought I could consider the old carpet as padding, put tack strip along the walls and stretch new carpeting over it. Will this work or am I crazy? Thanks

It will work. How well it works really depends on what your covering up. It would be best if you could cut a channel out along the edges to place your tack strip in though . Also what type of new carpet are you considering. If you just put tack strip over the old carpet then stretch in the new carpet you may have lumps at the edges where the tack strip is. If I've missed anything let me know.

Carpet question! [ 2 Answers ]

We're not moved in our new place yet, but we are getting ready to. We noticed this trail of dirt on the carpet (looks like it has 2 different colors). The landlord said it's not dirt, but that the plastic that was covering some areas "took the color out" of the carpet. Well, to me, it's looks...

I recently had new carpet installed in my home and each time I vacuum it, the vacuum leaves fuz on the carpet. Is this normal for new carpet or is it a problem with my vacuum, which is also new. We have low pile carpet and the vacuum is set on medium height.
