    Gas vs Diesel
I need to buy a larger truck to pull our camper. Having never owned a diesel powered vehicle, I am wondering about a few things. Do diesels generally get more MPG than a gas engine? Are maintenance costs and requirements about the same? If you have a diesel, would you buy another?

I would appreciate any input you could give me to help me make a decision.

    . Greater gas mileage.
. Greater torque--much better for towing.
    . Engines last much longer.

Maintenance costs will be comparable, over time. Need to pay attention to water in the fuel (purge water and change fuel filter every 15,000 miles) and dirty air (change air filter every 15,000 miles). Some have trouble with diesels starting in cold weather. For the right application, diesels are the way to go. Diesels are not meant for "urban cowboys," who just drive them around town, starting and stopping them constantly.
