    Lost Filling/Dentist Closed
It's Christmas Eve! I lost a filling, and now have a big hole in my tooth. It doesn't hurt, but it's noticeable. My dentist is closed until after New Years.. . Do I call in an emergency! Or is there something I can do until then?

Have you tried to call your dentist to see if he or she is available to do after-hours work?

That is also a possibility. However, since it is the holiday season, there might be the possibility of eating something that might erupt in a great deal of pain if sshillman does not get some professional treatment right away. I know that it would be that way with my teeth if I lost a filling. Also, we don't know if the filling was lost because it was loose for awhile, and thus tooth decay may have already been present for awhile. Just a thought.

Clean it. Fill it with a piece of cotton.

Dental wax or a temporary filling material will work when the stores are open. Be careful about eating anything that could split the tooth.
