    How often can you be garnished from the same person in Tennessee?

    Usually it helps to give a full explanation for us to answer. Your questions leaves a lot out like what type of granishment, is it for the same debt etc.

    Generally, as long as a judgement is in effect the judgement holder can garnish you as many times as necessary to get repayment.

    Yes, and if they have to keep going back and getting the order renewed, they will charge you for their legal fees and court costs which makes you end up owing even more.

    For example, here in VA if the judgement is for $1000 then there is usually another $300 added in court costs making the total $1300. Usually the employer has a date 90 days out that the money has to be back to the court. The employer collects as much as they are legally allowed, which is generally 25% of the person's pay after taxes per pay period. Let's say that at the 90 day mark the employer has only withheld $750. The company that holds the judgement can then ask for another garnishment order for the remaining $550 and tack on another $300 in costs. It can be a nasty spiral if you don't get it under control.
