    Kitchen water line stuck--what do I try now?
    I'm putting in a new sprayer, and I can't get the water line loose for the life of me. I've tried every wrench I own, but because of the lack of space or lacking a good grip, to no avail. I read somewhere I needed a 'basin wrench', but after calling a few places this isn't exactly a tool you can pick up at Wally-World or the like. Do really need this? I can't imagine I would ever need the thing for another 20 years, but if it's what I have to get, then I might as well bite the bullet?? I've also read that I could heat the fitting up with a torch, is that legit?

    Please help, we've been using a cut-off hose for a week and it's getting real old, real quick.

    A basin wrench,(see image) gets you into those hard to reach places to tighten or unscrew a threaded nut. You may pick one up at a plumbing supply house or some hardware stores carry them. Good luck, Tom

    ''I've tried every wrench I own'' What do you own? Tom knows how plumbers do things. He knows exactly how to make the right tool work, and had it on his truck. That is part of being a pro. Do you own a set of 6 point sockets, an extension, and a big ratchet or breaker bar? If the nut you are trying to loosen has 6 sides, cut the hose off right at it. Slip the socket over it, use the extension to get down to where you have room to swing the handle. If the nut is a knurled round one, this might still work. Find a 12 point socket that is just a little too small. High quality steel makes a difference. Drive it on. The hammering will help loosen the nut.

    That basin wrench can be bought for about $7, $12 for a 12" version. You could be like my cheap brother-in-law and buy one at HD and then take it back after you get your new sprayer attached.

    Owned a couple for years, use them for all sorts of things. I believe they may even have them in some of the larger wally worlds, least they did a few years ago. But home depo and those sorts of places, most Ace Hardware stores all have them,
