    Water surging in apartment
I live in an apartment that is well maintained but there is one problem that they can not seem to correct. The apartment is on city water with a 2" main coming in to supply our water to the building. We continue to have water surges that go from hot to cold after the water has been on for a little while (such as in the shower)this is very uncomfortable. They have put in a new sert pump and that seem to correct it some but no where near all the way. We have been living with this for 6 months and would really like to find an answer to this problem. Thank you for any help that you can give us for this issue!

Tina, did this problem just start 6months ago or was that when you moved in? Whatever the issue is you will not be in charge of fixing it and should not attempt anything on your own. As a tenant you should just keep management informed by lodging complaints. Could you clarify "new sert pump " for me?

We moved in 6 months ago. The problem was there before we moved in. It is only the two apartmens at the end of the line that is complaining about this problem. I am very aware that I will not be fixing the issue. I use to be a manager and my husband is the facility maintenance supervisor of 53 properties one of them being the property that we live on. The supervisor on this property is looking for reasons and I am helping them by writing this. It is the cirrulation pump.

If you are at the end of the line it may be that the main is undersized for the current loading or other units are using way more water than had been planned for when the units were designed. The undersizing may just be in the water heater system. If you are calling for a lot of hot water and the system can't keep up you will get a dose of cold to meet your demand. If they ever figure this out please come back and tell us what the solution was.

How many people are sharing this 2 in line, have they done a test to determine pressure and GPM at the complex inlet and then find it toward the end.

Does the 2 in run the length of the complex or does it narrow going to varoius buildings
