My dachsunds pregnant
My mini dachsund is pregnant I don't know the exact date somewhere between the 15th and the22cd of September. She is very large and I noticed a white mucous like substance coming out of her yesterday I wondered do they have a mucous plug, and if so how long after they pass it are the pups expected? I am worried about her, her little belly drags the ground. And I am dumb to all of this because I have never bred a dog before. She is pregnant by another mini dach though so do you all think she will be allright?just tell me what to expect through this process so I can help her as much as possible.

https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/dogs/p...ds-147904.html I believe Labman mentions some books in his post, do your dog a favor and get one. Maybe you should not have let her breed if you did not know what to do. You should have done some research 1st. I hope you have taken her to the vet through out this process and have an emergency plan in case she needs medical attention while giving birth. Hopefully she will not have back troubles resulting from her belly dragging the ground. Before you decide to breed her again do a search for Daschunds on pet finder and find out how many needs homes. Also there are many rescues Google Daschunds Rescues and see how many of those you find. Are you adding to the problem?

I would never let any pet go to a bad home or abuse one in any way,
After they leave your home you don't know how they are being treated. Even if they go to family memebers. Look at the little guy to the left someone bought him for 300 dollars, was to damn lazy to potty train him and beat the hell out of him, then proceeded to give him just enough food to keep him from starving... less poop that way. Do you think his breeders though that was going to happen to him? Lady get in the real world... have your dog spayed

I don't know if it is too late at this point in time if this link will help you but take a look at it anyway: American Kennel Club - Responsible Breeding Steps
Debbie, bushg is right. Puppies and dogs are thrown away every day and you have no way of knowing what will happen to yours down the road. You may love your little girl, you may have a big house and yard, you may take her for regular vet checkups BUT honey, you cannot expect step by step help with this issue from a free web site. We all donate our time when we can, and we cannot possibly give you all the info and help you need in one shot at this crucial time. I am very saddened that you haven't done your homework and have possibly put the life of your little dog and her litter at such risk. Most of us here either do rescue work, training, or are pet owners. To my knowledge, we don't have any responsible dachshund breeders who can donate their time to help you through the end of pregnancy, whelping, weaning,. over the course of the next 6 to 8 weeks. I don't understand why you didn't prepare for this as soon as you knew your doxie was pregnant. We just have no way of knowing if she is going to be okay. We can't examine her here. PLEASE, call your vet to get the proper help with this.

I am sorry Debbie, but you are part of the problem. I think Bushg does more with cats, but RubyPitbull gives many hours and maybe money out of her pocket trying to retrain and place poorly bred and cared for dogs. Many of the questions I give my time helping people with are due again to problem breedings. So please excuse our lack of support.

My dachshund has had two false pregnancies and I think she is pregnant. She has a big belly and her breasts sag. She is still very active. My vet said I should bring her in just to make sure. Did yours have her puppies?

Just why do you have what must be a 2 year old female that isn't spayed? Isn't it rather selfish to continue to risk the sort of pregnancies that cost society so much in general? Breeding dogs, or even keeping intact ones, is serious business. If you don't know how to find out if your dog is pregnant, you have not business having an intact dog. I wonder if you should be able to even have a dog.
