    Heat pump wiring up to code
    I had an eletrical surge (low voltage) burn out my 10 year old 3 ton Carrier compressor, a month ago. Electrican said it was caused by a power surge. Electric co states it was faulty in house wireing They told me that my 10 year old compressor was supposed to have a 35 amp rated circuit breaker and not the 40 amp that is currently used and also
    The 10g wire that is hooked into the compressor was supposed to be an 8g. So the compressor was pulling too much electricity in and didn't set off the circuit breaker switch thus causing the overload which in turn fried the circuit to the affected appliances and also tripped the gfi's which wouldn't take a reset until I tried them again in the morning I lost my A/C compressor, dishwasher, microwave, and water heater from the damage. Does this sound like a reasonable explanation?

    I used the Report Inappropriate Post link to ask to have this moved to electrical. Maybe it needs to go to legal. I am surprised low voltage would hurt the water heater. It is murder on motors.

    No one but my neighbor still has an issue about an electrical bill that was double for 2 months over the summer. He was away and the house was empty during that time??
