    Ceiling fans and faulty capacitors
I have replaced three 2.5 MuF capacitors in my ceiling fan.

Each time the capacitor is replaced the fan works perfectly for about 2 weeks. After 2 weeks the fan speed slows down until a new capacitor is installed.

I would like to know the reason why the capacitor fails every time. Could it be a faulty batch of capacitors or a spike which kills the 450V capacitor? This happens only with one particular fan in the house.

What make/model is the fan? What sort of control (wall, etc) does it use? Is it a remote fan?

    Thank you for your response.

The ceiling fan is made in India and I have installed a wall control (compact type). Its NOT a remote controlled fan.

How many speeds does the wall control have? It may be at fault.

The wall control unit has 4 speed settings.

I have replaced the capacitor once more and the fan is working normally. If it fails again, then I will purchase a new ceiling fan and regulator.

I would like to know however what caused this problem.

Thank you very much for your response and patience
