    Push and hold down the button for about 5 seconds. That should reset it the default.

    Not true there is no reset for ceiling fan remotes, other than cutting power and then cutting it back on.

    Does the LED in the remote light up? If so, it is likely a receiver problem. If not it is the remote and you should check the battery and possibly try a universal replacement.
