    Trying to Conceive with Clomid
I am 29 years old dignosed with PCOS. I have 2 wonderful boys that I was able to conceive with clomid. The first time I took clomid was when I was 20 and conceived on the first moth, the second time was when I was 26 and conceived the second month. Both times my doctor prescribed 50mg and the only side effects I had were sore breast and a bit of nausea. This time I have not had any side effects and I worry that it is not working, I am my second cycle day 35 and based on my last period my period should come this Sunday November 18 (day 39). I have tracked my temp and it seems that I ovulated on day 22; is this not too late to ovulate? Could it be the clomid is not working?

Day 22 is not too late to ovulate, as 39 days is a long cycle. So when you have a longer cycle, like 39 days vs 28 days... then you will ovulate later as well.

As long as your blood work is coming back fine, the Clomid should be working. If your blood work came back showing your didn't ovulate they would increase your dosage.

My bloodwork hasn't come back normal, thus the Clomid isn't working to make to ovulate. (on this dose)

Well I don't know about my blood work because my doctor has not sent me to have any done. I called the office today and asked why I had not been sent for blood work, the receptionist informed me the doctor probably didn't feel I need it as I have had 2 pregnancy with the 50 mg dose. However, something tells me this time I need to up my dose. My next appt. is not until January 16 so until then I can't really get much help.
By the way, did you have any side effect while you were on the clomid? Also, were you tracking your temp while you were taking it? If so, did you see any slight temp increase?

Hmmm well that's odd that the doctor hasn't had you do any blood work. You should always have bloodwork on day 24 of your cycle. Even if you have conceived with 50mg before as time goes by your body changes as well. If you are already past day 24 I would definitely call and ask the doctor to order blood work for next month. I mean, if 50mg isn't working this time... and your doctor isn't doing bloodwork, thus keeping you on 50mg... you are just wasting time and money.

I didn't have any side effect while on Clomid. I wasn't tracking my temp this time... I tracked it before I was on Clomid and that's how I figured out I wasn't ovulating every month. Some months my temp would rise, some months it wouldn't.

Thanks for your help, it helps. I'm going to see if my regular doctor can send me for blood work. I hope you the best on your journey, keep me posted and I'll let you know what truns up for.

    Thanks.
