How to get rid of house centipedes
Yuck these things are very scary. I guess they are in my apartment complex. They are extremely fast and down right scary. I don't want that thing to crawl on me.. ever.. if it does.. I think I might have a heart attack.. seriously.
How can you get rid of these things? A HUGE one just crawled across my wall.. it's the first one I've seen that big in about a month.
Some guy is going to come spray the apartment on Friday, but I was wondering if that really works.
Also.. what are these things attracted to.. a lot of times we've found them in our bathroom.. do they like water?
Is there anything I can buy and spray around the apartment myself to make sure I don't see one of these things again?
Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I'm a girl and I don't do well with big bugs with tons of legs that are too fast for me to kill! UGH
ALSO.. are these things poisonous? I mean heavenly forbid one of these things get on me.. I'll probably die of a heart attack if one of these things touch me, but is it poisonous?
Help me please! I'm scared and I openly admit it!

We tend to see them during damp periods and during the change from one season to the next. They don't bite, aren't poisonous, and just tickle a little bit when they run across you. For fun, we name ours if we see them. I'm still having trouble telling the girls from the boys. Be glad they aren't wolf spiders. Live and let live.

Wondergirl is right. They aren't poisonous and won't harm you.

Are you going to be home when the exterminator comes? If so, you should speak to him about any other products you can buy over the counter. Raid makes an insect killer that kills centipededs too. It may say Raid Insect Killer on the can, I don't remember. Just check the info section on the spray can where it says what it kills, making sure the one you pick up includes centipedes. You can find this product at Home Depot, Walmarts, or a local hardware store. Centipedes do like the damp areas and if there is a food source such as cockroaches, spiders, termites, silverfish,. See if there are any gaps between the floorboards and the walls. If there are, seal them tight with caulking.

Your best defense is using the exterminator whenever you can. You live in an apartment complex, the landlord pays for it, and it is the most effective way to get rid of them. If they have the guy show up on a monthly basis, arrange to be on his schedule every month. That should give you some peace of mind.

Well he's coming sometime tomorrow. I'm leaving for the weekend. My cousin lived here last year and she said when they came they set off some bombs throughout the apartment.. so I'm not supposed to be here. I'm hoping it gets rid of them.. they are just so gross to have around and they are freakishly fast. I'm nervous about coming home on Sunday too because she said there were dead bugs everywhere last time haha.. yea.. its so embarrassing to be that afraid of bugs but.. that's life..
    Thanks for the help, though.

Here's a easy inexpensive solution, works for other pests too, Try sprinkling 20 mule team Borax around the floorboards where they are. A little bit goes along way!
