    Rover 400
    My rover 400 ran out of petrol after putting 8 litres of petrol in why won't my car start ? Would be really grateful if someone could get back to me.

    Thoughts:

    . Check for fuel. Turn the ignition key to ON. Can you hear the fuel pump run? If you can, then turn the ignition OFF. Repeat this procedure several times to ensure the fuel rail is fully pressurized. Add more petrol--8 liters may not be enough.

    . Consider replacing the fuel filter, since it may now be plugged with crud from the bottom of the tank.

    . Check all under-dash and under-hood fuses with a test light or multimeter. Here's how:

    . Check for spark.

    . Check for codes.
