    Can't start my Rover
    Hi there,

I've got a strange problem with my rover and I was wondering if anybody can help me out.

I travel quite a lot and don't use my car very often. I was travelling a lot these last three months and didn't use my car at all. Today, I decided to start it and I found out that battery was dead. I've got a battery charger; so I connected it with my car battery and tried to start. It seems that I connected the leads incorrectly (+ with -) and the car alarm went off. I disconnacted the leads quickly and then connected them properly this time. The dashboard lights functioned correctly; except that the car won't start at all. If the polarity of car battery was reveresed, nothing should work; right? However on board lights are working just fine. It just wouldn't start.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks.
    Kase.

Turn ignition ON, set multimeter to DCV, and check all under-hood and under-dash fuses. If that doesn't reveal a blown fuse, disconnect the negative battery cable (or remove the backup fuse) for 20 seconds to reset your ECM; then, try to start the car.

Lights Will Work On A Reverse Polarity Situation. I Agree With The Greasemonkey Though. Disconect Your Battery, Or Maybe Try Another On If You Have Acces To One. If Not Use A Digital Multimeter On Your Battery. Red To + Black To Neg. Set To Dcv 20. Your Meter Will Read The Voltage With A [- ] In front Of The Digits If The Battery Has Gone Reverse Polarity. They Can Be Changed Back, But I Won't Elaborate On The Procedure. Take It To A Credible Auto Electric Shop.
