Whirlpool Catalyst washer no motor movement, diagnoise?
I have a Whirlpool Catalyst washer, Mod #GSX9885JQ0.
It will not agitate nor spin, fills fine, seems like the issue is the machine 'thinks' it's working, no error codes/letters/numbers show in the display. I checked (as posed by ApplGuy on this site) the lid and off-balance switch with ohm meter, both proved OK. The coupling is not broke, as the motor doesn't even run so it can't tun the basket/trans etc...
Is there a way to diag for trouble codes? Is there a way to test if it's the mother board failure or the motor or the motor start capacitor?? THe control board appears to think it is going thur the cycle OK, I select a spin only mode and the count-down timer continues to count down as if it thinks it's working, but there is no movement. When I first engage the spin cycle, I hear the clunk that I guess is a relay saying GO, but the motor does not even sound as if it's trying to move... could you think of any way, short of trying one part after another to diagnose what it is?? Is there a way to test the motor directly to see if it moves with 110VAC power? Is there a way to test a motor capacitor? Any self test for the control board?
    Thanks for any help!

Start the unit and check the amps. The amp draw will be stamped on your motor. 10-20 amps will indicate a bad motor. If motor is buzzing and trying to start the capacitor is bad. You can check with an ohm meter. Connect the leads to the cap. And the needle will go high the low very quickly if cap is good
