We've lost two great trees. We're concerned about our peach trees, oak tree, and several other established trees.

Help! How do we treat? What do we do about the infected trees?

You can do a lot of ground work by identifying the borers properly and I think a trip to the nursery is in order for you. Borers will only attack a tree that is already distressed as from lack of irrigation, mechanical work done around them in the past disturbing roots, or over pruning.

One thing you can do is keep an eye on your other trees and start cutting out distressed branches which may indicate borer action already in progress. But basically if you know your other trees are healthy looking, then there is no need to worry, but if you really want expert advice I would have someone from a nursery attend the trees and see if they can identify the specific borer which is a step in the right direction.
