    Collection agency lawsuit
    I 04/01 I Had A Providian Account. In 10/01 I Had An On The Job Injury And Was Not Able To Make On Time Payments. I Remembered That I Had Purchased Credit Insurance And Requested Information To Send To Providian So That The Insurance Could Be Put In Force. Atfer Several Attempts And After I Could No Longer Pay Anything Else I Stopped Paying On The Account.the Account Was Placed On My Credit For Bad Account . Now I An Being Sued By The Collection Agency. What Is My Next Step. This Is The State Of Texas.

    There's not really much you can do. If your credit card had insurance where you don't have to make payments due to injury then it's really up to you to contact them and figure out what you need. You say you made attenpts to contact them, how? If it was registered mail then you might have a chance at showing they ignored your requests to use this insurance. Did you ever call? Did you get the name of an agent or find out if you qualify?

    Those insurance things are kind of a scam, I had the same thing and it had this protection, they said there would be no payments required if you lost your job. One time I was out of work and tried to set it up, it turns out that you can only use this out of work clause if you were fired due to downsizing only, I was just plain fired cause I couldn't work the hours they needed and also cause I missed a day or 2 when the manager decided to change the schedule after it was printed and posted and not call anyone to let them know.
