    Drain seems stuck
A little while ago our bath tub drain became clogged. My husband used a plunger to get the clog free but now our drain is broken. What I mean is, the lever on the tub does not stay open, I have had to use a hair band to wrap around the unscrewed faceplate to keep the drain open so we can shower. How do I fix this. I tried pulling out the whole mechanism but it is a plastic stick going down and I don't want to break it.

    Thanks!

My guess is that your husband merely moved the clog to a point where it is obstructing the tub's lever on the drain.

I would start by removing the strainer grill over the drain of the tub. Get a flash light and look down the drain see if you can see the blockage and then take a plumbers snake and try and break it up.

I Need Help With My Tub Drain
    Hi speedball!
I've been reading through some posts and you seem to really know what you are talking about.

    Thanks!

I'm going to assume that you have the left hand,(see image) bucket type of tub waste and overflow and the linkage came unhooked from the lever. Is it broke or is the retaining spring on the face plate that keeps the lever in a upright position missing? If the spring's missing a chrome lever type face plate,(see image) can be purchased and attached to the existing linkage. Good luck, Tom
