I love this board, everyone is so knowledgeable! This is my question. Here is a picture of my basement taken yesterday. My floor has not been poured yet. This is how they have my bathroom roughed out. Does it look OK, or do I need to tell my builder anything before he finishes the floor! Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Peter,

I'm sorry but your picture tells me nothing. I don'r know how the drainage was laid out under the floor or even where the walls are. Would it be possible to scan in the working plans giving me something I can sink my teeth into?

Thank you for answering me so quickly. There are no walls, I will place them when I finish the basement. He is only roughing out a 3 piece bathroom with crock. The rest is up to me. I was just wondering if the layout look good and where I should I place the walls (like should the crock be outside the bathroom?)

I can't evaluate what I can't see. What's a "crock"? If you can't give me any more then a toilet stubup and a few copper stub ups coming out of the floor I can't be of much help. I really need the working plans with the drainage, vents and walls plus more detail in your picture. Regards, tom

OK. I'll ask the builder for the plans he used to rough it out. Maybe he can fax them to me, if not I have to wait for my next trip to the site. I assumed that what is there is a sink, toilet and shower drain, along with a vent pipe all in PVC. I also assumed that crock is for the pump, to pump the waste out into the sewer (which is a few feet off the floor), but now I'm confused. As for more detail, I have several other pictures, but I will post them later when I get the plans.

That "crock" had better be a opening for a holding tank and not a storage pit for the sewerage until it can be pumped out. The holding tank MUST be tightly enclosed with its own dedicated roof vent. This vent must be separate from the vent that vents your bathroom group, they can not be combined. When you informed me of your raised sewer your basement bathroom just got complicated. Get me those working plans along with his plan for a holding tank, ( I hope by "crock" he's not planing on installing a cesspool in your basement) and I'll be more then happy to evaluate them.
