Red hot briggs 5 hp muffler!
Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem with my log splitter. Just bought it well used for $500 off the internet. Briggs and stratton 5 hp engine with a tube style muffler. Not the flat kind. Looks like it will be a great deal of trobble to remove. I was thinking about replacing it because it gets RED HOT when I use the splitter even after 5 minutes. I mean red hot like glowing and making metal tinking sounds. The engine runs good and it splits wood like no other. I have not used the splitter for more than 15 minutes total as I just got it but the old owner said he never had a problem but who knows. Any help would be appreciated!

A short story: Just had a new natural gas hot water heater installed in the basement. I later smelled gas - they sent another plumber out to fix it. Joint/connector - whatever it's called - was not tight. Seems to be fixed because gas smell went away but I'm not certain they put goo on the...
