    Reset service interval display
How do I reset the service interval display on my 2000 BMW Z3. I have just changed my oil and need to reset. I found the data link on the console and have been told can be done by grounding the 7 pin for 3 seconds while the ignition switch is on. Will this work? Thanks!

To reset the service indicator following an oil service or inspection perform the following:
    This requires special reset tool (P/N 88 88 6 621 100).

    1. Insert the reset tool into the diagnostic connector.
    2. Turn the ignition on but do not start the engine.
    3. Push and hold the applicable button on the reset tool (OIL SERVICE or INSPECTION). OIL SERVICE RESET

O Green LED on tool illuminates.
O Yellow LED illuminates after 10 seconds .
O Yellow LED goes out after 3 seconds .
O Release button and remove tool.

    INSPECTION RESET

    * Green LED on tool illuminates.
    * Red LED illuminates after 3 seconds .
    * Red LED goes out after 12 seconds .
    * Release button and remove tool.

    4. If an error is made before the above sequence of events is completed, repeat the procedure.
    5. The Service interval indicator is not reset at the 1200 mile

I've found nothing to confirm that grounding 7 for 3 is a reset procedure.

Thanks for your help. I was hoping that I wouldn't need to purchase the relatively expensive reset tool.

Sorry, they do range around $100
**edit** but you can share the expense with others in similar vehicles...

I completed the problem the same way I did the other one. I think I followed the right steps. |2x-2|>4 -4>2x-2>4 add 2 to both sides -2>2x>6 divide all numbers by 2 -1>x>3 is my answer

Reset button keeps needing to be reset [ 2 Answers ]

The reset button on our oil furnace needs to be reset every 10 to 14 days. What can be the problem? We are leaving for the holidays and I'm concerned that we could come home to frozen pipes.
