Hampton Bay Fan just stopped working
Power to the house went out. The fan no longer works. I checked the wall switch and it seems fine. What could go wrong with a fan?

Is it a remote fan? Does it have pullchains? How is it controlled?

Sounds like the power surge fried the remote receiver. Open it up at the ceiling and wire it without the remote, it should work.
