Whirlpool tub to basement floor drain
    Hi all,

    2 questions:

1.) I need to connect a basement roughed-in 2 inch drain to a whirlpool tub. I believe that I can use 1 1/2 inch cheap sink drain to attach to the 2 inch drain. It appears to be really easy to configure. I will use the same for my shower drain?

2.) Can I fill in the little 1 foot sand box with concrete. One of the tub feet needs to rest on top of the 1 foot sandbox.

    Thanks

You may drain to a existing floor drain only if you,(1) Run a separate vent for the tub **or** (2) if you drain the tub through a indirect waste located a inch or so above the floor drain opening. You can not hook it up direct as you have described.

This is the drain line you should be connecting to because the drain line's run and the tub will be vented. Break up cement and move the trap and raiser and tie to that. Good luck, Tom

We have a cast iron basement floor drain with no valve to prevent backflow. Can you put such a valve in an iron pipe and, if so, would I have to go to a plumbing specialty store to get one? The ones at Home Depot are only meant for plastic pipe. If I have to convert to plastic, what is the best...
