    Changing one 20 amp breaker to a dual 20 amp.
    How exactly how does changing a 20 amp breaker to a dual 20 :confused: help? You still have the same amount of wires from the original.

    What are you trying to do? Change a 120 volt circuit to a 240 volt circuit?

    I have had too any appliances on one circuit but have since reduced the amount as the breaker kept throwing when I accidentally had too many on at one time. An electrician suggested something about changing the single breaker to a dual 20, but never said why this would work and I haven't seen him since. As I know just enough about electricity to get me in a lot of trouble, I need the advice from someone who knows. Thanks a lot for your input.

    Simply adding a dual breaker is not a complete solution. This type of breaker allows for adding more circuits to a panel that is full with no more breaker slots.

    Along with adding a circuit breaker a new circuit needs to be installed, which includes running a new cable from the panel to new outlets or to existing outlets and re-feeding with the new circuit.

    So how would you like to proceed from here?

    I guess adding an extra circuit and put some of the appliances on the new circuit.
    Do I need to change the breaker and run an extra wire and put new receptacles
    For the extra appliances?
