They are also great places for those looking for a dog. The rescues charge a fee to help cover their expenses, but is much less than the price of a puppy plus all its medical expenses the first year.
In general I am against medicating your dog yourself. Maybe this would be a case for doing a internet search for the medicine you used the last time and trying to pick it up cheap. Start at
