    Mange
I have a 7 month old pitbull. She has mange. I have treated her for it before and now she has it again, I am not able to afford to keep her to pay for all the medicine that she needs. I am undecided what to do as far as if I should keep her. I was thinking of taking her to the pound and they can take care of her. She is a great dog not aggressive at all. My daughter loves her very dearly. But I just cannot afford the medicine she needs and it is costly. I don't know anywhere to look for assistance in purchasing this medicines. I am currently unemployed and barely making it. But I would love to keep her. What should I do? I hate to see her suffering.

If you must give her up, it might be better to go with a rescue rather than the pound. Rescues take dogs that lost their home into a foster home to be retrained as necessary and placed in the right home for them. You may find a rescue near you starting at http://www.akc.org/breeds/rescue.cfm

They are also great places for those looking for a dog. The rescues charge a fee to help cover their expenses, but is much less than the price of a puppy plus all its medical expenses the first year.

In general I am against medicating your dog yourself. Maybe this would be a case for doing a internet search for the medicine you used the last time and trying to pick it up cheap. Start at www.vetvax.com. I let DRS foster Smith get my email and the spam went on for a couple of years until I changed internet providers. I haven't bought any medicine, but other supplies and no problems with Vet Vax.

Your post tears me up. I hate to think of your daughter losing her dog.
