Is my puppy going to be okay?
We just got a Yorkie/Chihuahua puppie(Chorkie). He's ten weeks old, and weighs four pounds. I noticed he had a very runny stool with blood in it. I really would like to know if he's hurt, or feeling any pain. This is my first puppy, and I'm really scared something serious is wrong with him. I haven't noticed any strange behavior, other than wining, but research says that's the normal way they communicate. This is the first time I've seen blood coming out of him. Please, if you could give an answer ASAP, that would be great. Thanks. :(

I hate to panic you, but get him to a vet now! The bloody, runny stool could be the dreaded parvo, a great killer of young puppies. See Canine Parvovirus, What you should know about

Hookworms can also cause bloody stool. I'm sure that he is very uncomfortable . A vet check sounds like a good idea before things get worse.

Bushg is correct about the hookworms. However better to rush a dog to the vet with hookworms, than to delay if it is parvo.

When is a puppy not a puppy anymore? [ 3 Answers ]

Our Lhasa is now 10 months old. As a puppy we have had food available pretty much at all times, but maybe he's getting past that now, and for his weight should maybe only be fed about a cup to a cup and a half of his dog meal a day. We have been using Wysong, by the way, and it seems to have a...
